The Claret Jug is without doubt the worlds most famous trophy in the game of golf. Originally commissioned in 1873, this beautiful trophy is known officially as the Golf Champion Trophy. This first winner was Tom Morris, the 1872 champion, even though the trophy had not been completed when he won the event.
Ailsa course first hosted the Open in 1977, and this produced arguably the best Major championship final this was with Tom Watson when he beat Jack Nicklaus by one shot.
